چکیده

It is now well known that a healthy urban ecosystem crucial element to healthier citizens (Astell-Burt and Feng 2019), better air (Ning et al. 2016) water quality (Livesley 2016), overall, more resilient environment (Huff 2020). With ecoTeka, an open-source platform for tree management, we leverage the power of OpenStreetMap (Mooney 2015), Mappilary, open data allow decision makers improve their forestry practices. To have most comprehensive about ecosystems, plan use all available sources from satellite imagery LIDAR (light detection ranging) compute them with DeepForest (Weinstein 2020) learning algorithm. We also teamed French government build standard interoperability system. Finally, calculate Shannon-Wiener diversity index (used by ecologists estimate species relative abundance in habitat) inform making ecosystems.

Applying Ecosystem Management to Urban Forestry

During the 1990s, the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service shifted from commodity production management to ecosystem-based management (Overbay, 1992). Although definitions of ecosystem-based mana-gement vary by objectives, the principle had four primary elements: (1) maintaining viable populations of native species, (2) representing native ecosystems across their range of natu...

Visualizing spatial forestry data: knowledge management in the 3 dimension

In recent years, we have seen a great deal of expansion in our knowledge of forest ecosystems and the underlying management dimensions that support decisionmaking in this context. Forestry, much like other natural resource management disciplines, is faced with the challenge of integrating information from many different perspectives often with limited understanding of the basic principles of th...

Reducing Air Pollution through Urban Forestry

This paper presents a brief review of ways that urban forests positively and negatively impact air quality. It provides an overview of our research on air quality effects from parking lot shade and guidelines to estimate atmospheric carbon dioxide reductions through urban forestry.

Induction of Systemic Acquired Disease Resistance in Plants: Potential Implications for Disease Management in Urban Forestry

Systemic acquired resistance (SAR) is the phenomenon whereby a plant’s own defense mechanisms are induced by prior treatment with either a biological or chemical agent. The concept of SAR has been widely recognized and studied for the past 100 years in relation to increasing resistance to fungal, bacterial, and viral pathogens of economically important crop plants. The use of SAR as part of a d...
